The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will feature 3,800 hours of live sporting events, with 329 gold medals up for grabs across 32 sports over an 18-day competition period throughout Paris and other regions in France. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the 34th Summer Olympics.
When Do the Olympics Begin?
The official opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics will take place on Friday, 26 July. However, the competitions will kick off earlier, on Wednesday, 24 July, with preliminary matches in football, rugby sevens, handball, and archery. Unlike traditional ceremonies, this year’s opening will be an ambitious event held along the River Seine instead of inside a stadium.
The first medals will be awarded on 27 July, and the Games will conclude on 11 August, with the closing ceremony scheduled for later that evening.
When Are the 100m Finals?
The women's 100m final is set for Saturday, 3 August, at 20:20 BST, while the men's 100m final will occur on Sunday, 4 August, at 20:50 BST. Both events will take place at the Stade de France, where all track and field competitions are scheduled.
